CITY OF PRIPYAT
The city of Pripyat – time has stopped here. Being almost in the center of events, thousands of inhabitants left Pripyat. The city, which embodied the latest achievements and technologies of Soviet construction at that time, took over the full power of the destructive force of radiation. The Chernobyl nuclear power plant was to become the best nuclear power plant, and the city of Pripyat should keep the bar and be a cozy home for workers and their families.
HOTEL POLESIE
Hotel “Polesie” (orig. “Polisya”) is located on the main square in the very center of Pripyat. Having a low altitude and a completely different mission, like a hotel building, the hotel played a very important role in eliminating the consequences of the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. It was here that the dosimetry measurement post was located, as well as the soldiers who were directly involved in the evacuation operation. Many helicopters extinguished a fire at a reactor. From the roof of the hotel, dispatchers could help the pilots and coordinate them in the airspace above the city.
HOSPITAL
The medical unit (MSC-126) was a hospital healthcare complex in the city of Pripyat. This place is completely wordless and eloquently conveys the post apocalyptic atmosphere. According to tourists who are visitors to the “Exclusion Zone” as part of tours from the SPHERE TOUR agency, the hospital is a rather creepy place and, as they say, “not for the faint of heart.” From the words of one of our guests: “Here you can feel how time is divided. “The atmosphere of tragedy hung in the air, emotions just roll over!”
AMUSEMENT PARK
The amusement park is one of the most recognizable places in the city of Pripyat, and the Ferris wheel and the circuit have become the so-called visiting cards of the exclusion zone. Since all the amusement structures are made of metal, the park emits the greatest amount of radiation in the former residential areas. Officially, the park was never put into operation. The famous Ferris wheel did not manage to make a single circle. The place is very popular among tourists and photographers.
Ginger Forest
The red forest was covered with a huge amount of radioactive dust. A lot of vegetation simply died, and the surviving trees turned a red tint, as if eternal autumn had settled in this place. Since the forest covered about a dozen square kilometers and absorbed a very large dose of radiation, it had to be destroyed. After a while, nature decided to restore the trees that make their way to this place to this day.
